- What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
- Not knowing your purpose or yourself

- The Wasatch Valley

- That feeling of weighty contentment experienced when you're at home in the evening, having had just eaten dinner, there's a cup of tea and you're learning something or just thinking and wiling away the time, and it starts to snow.
- To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
- My proclivity to daydream when it is not convenient for others for me to do so.
- Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
- Any hero I can actually attempt to emulate. Those who long for simplicity, but so very often overcome adversity through courage and tenacity of will.
- Who are your favorite characters in history?
- Robin Williams, Vincent VanGoch, Leonardo DaVinci, Louise Pastieur.
- Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
- Malala Josefzai for her courage, her will to live, and her will to learn. With those three attributes you will succeed.
- Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
- Eowyn from the Lord of the Rings and Ophelia from Pans Labyrinth. Both face terrible odds, both triumph over those odds, and maintain their goodness throughout.

- It's a toss up between Van Goch and DaVinci

- Freddie Mercury.

- Responsibility, Intelligence, Moral Fortitude without arrogance, and gentleness

- Kindness, the type of kindness that allows you to be firm without being cruel; the type that moves you to better the world

- It changes from day to day. Some days I'm happiest with my colors and books, other days I'll play my drum until I go deaf, and some days I will study all sorts of things on the internet.

- I attempt to be myself regardless of the company I keep. I'm not crass, but I am not necessarily conventional

- The willingness to be there through any kind of calamity.
- What is your principle defect?
- I'm one hell of a lazy bastard

- The loss of my spouse who is lover, best friend, confidant, and the main reason I remember to laugh at myself

- Proust got really pretentious on this one didn't he? My favorite color is Blue, particularly Cerulean.

- The Goldfinch. They are a bird of good omen to me

- I'm not one much for poetry or prose. i suppose Shakespeare and Yeats

- Again, not much for poetry, but I like Longfellow

- The vetrans who are my friends.

- Hypocrisy in myself and in others

- Proust never knew Hitler or Pol Pot or Donald Trump...

- D-Day, but honestly the day that the world lays down its weapons and declares enough is enough will be the day I most admire. Obviously it hasn't happened.

- A modicum of artistic talent

- As happy as I am now, only after having been able to raise children to adulthood, and after having visited Ireland.
