What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
To feel my mind turn against me as an instrument of pain.
Where would you like to live?
In the beach in Florida. Or on the internet.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?
To have a strong sense of self-worth, good health, a means of creative expression, and plenty of novelty. To love someone who loves me.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
Spending too much money and eating too many cookies. Defensiveness.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
Relatability is nice, but I like a man who can show me a good time. I'll say Odysseus.
Who are your favorite characters in history?
The ancient Athenians, with their democracy, soap-opera cast of gods, sea voyaging, dude-on-dude love, etc.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
Stylish nonconformists, like Roisin Murphy.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
Carol O'Connell's Mallory and other ass-kicking types.
Your favorite painter?
Can I say Dale Chihuly? For me, glass >>> paint.
Your favorite musician?
Metallica, Soulive, Pat Metheny, Roisin Murphy, Adam Lambert.
The quality you most admire in a man?
Kindness, openness to experience, belief in the equality of all people.
The quality you most admire in a woman?
Same.
Your favorite virtue?
Recognition of the broader world beyond one's own experiences/hometown/mental wallpaper. Rejection of preconceived notions and of tradition for tradition's sake.
Your favorite occupation?
Escapism.
