Being away from my mother, in fear that she'll leave me like my father did.
Where would you like to live?
As far away from "home" as possible.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?
Who knows? One day, it's cooking. Another day, it's sewing. You just don't know these days. In a parallel world, I just want a happy and loving family.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
Not knowing how to manage my feelings...that's what they are, right? Feelings?
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
Is it weird that I love me some Stuart Little? He might've been a mouse, but he sure had a mouth on him.
Who are your favorite characters in history?
Rosa Parks...without her, I don't think us colored people would be able to freely sit on a bus.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
My mother and the rest of my female family members.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
Fa Mulan and Pocahontas and Princess Jasmine...they were both lady bosses in their own ways.
Your favorite painter?
Michelangelo.
Your favorite musician?

The quality you most admire in a woman?
Loyalty and her motherly nature.
Your favorite virtue?
Courage. After all, isn't that the opposite of cowardice?
Your favorite occupation?
Mostly cooking.
Who would you have liked to be?
Honestly, just myself. The only twist would be to be one with BOTH of her parents instead of just one of them.
Your most marked characteristic?
I'm headstrong and, perhaps, strong-willed.
What do you most value in your friends?
Well, seeing that I only had one TRUE friend, I've always admired her patience and understanding attitude.
What is your principle defect?
Being way too emotional. In other words, I have a mouth on me. I'm proud...and not proud of it.

What is your favorite flower?
Who needs flowers? Anyway, roses.

Blue Jay.

What are your favorite names?
Areida and Aliyah. If I had to choose one of these names, I wouldn't know which one to choose.

Men (except Philip Bailey). They all remind me of my father. Why do you think I use 'em and throw 'em away like garbage?

What is your present state of mind?
I'm currently focusing on remembering everything I've studied for a culinary exam I have coming up. I know I'm going to ace it.
What is your motto?
"Live for you, die for you. Live for no one else, die for no one else. But, if you get burnt being stupid, you better be prepared to cover yourself."

Biography Notes:

-Amanda was born on July 8th, 1988 to parents Shana Laurel Bailey and Andrew Roy Bailey at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic.

-From her 1st through 5th years, Amanda was homeschooled by her auntie, Laura von Bailey.

-On the night of her 1st birthday, Amanda's father left her and her mother, resulting in a divorce.

-From 1993 to 1994, Amanda completed her Kindergarten year at the Mosaic Early Childhood Center. In that same year, her mother opened up a successful sewing/fashion business, Lyfe Desygns.

-It was in her 5th and 6th years, she encountered her first feelings of sadness and confusion, regarding her father’s absence.

-From 1994 to 1999, Amanda completed her Elementary school years at Black Magnet Elementary School. In these years, she discovered her fondness of words and their formation and her natural gift of photographic memory, which enabled her to keep up her 4.0 GPA.

-In the first grade, she immediately befriended fellow classmate, Emily Perelli.

-In the fourth grade, she started mildly acting out. Her attitude not only affected her friendship(s), but it also greatly affected her relationship with her mother. The problem is that she was ignorant to why she was acting out.

-In her 11th summer year, Amanda gradually patched up her relationship with her mother and also discovered her fondness of food, piano, and, thanks to her mother, sewing/fashion. However, her fondness of food outweighed her other interests, as she tried her hand at constructing mac 'n cheese...her way. Surprisingly, it came out pretty good.

-From 1999 to 2002, Amanda completed her middle school years at Madero Middle School.

-Just like she found solace with Earth Wind and Fire (they distracted her from her father’s absence), she also found solace with the school's culinary club. Her skills improved so much over time that she became the first seventh grader to master the perfect soufflé.

-During her 14th holiday season, Amanda's father came to visit...and did more harm than good. In other words, he had no intention on staying her life for good. This disappointment once again poisoned her relationship with her mother, but that was due to how furious she was for being let down yet again.

-Nearing the end of her eighth grade year, Amanda got suspended for engaging in a physical altercation. On the third and last night of her suspension, she ran away and found herself in a bar, where she met and befriended Philip Bailey, who would later become her guardian angel. Fortunately, her mother found her and brought her back home, where she finally made all of her feelings known about her sadness and anger towards her father not being in her life. She and her mother then engaged in a crying session, as her mother gave her the comfort she most desperately needed.

-During her 15th summer, Amanda and her mother engaged in a conversation about high school and which school to attend. In other words, Amanda wanted to go to a school catered to the culinary arts, while her mother wanted her to pursue an education catering to fashion design.

-From 2002 to 2006, Amanda completed her high school years at North-Grand High School, a culinary-based school. According to her, those years were the best. Two of her good friends were Annabelle Lee and Karissa Morris.

-From 2006 to 2010, Amanda completed her undergraduate years at Kendal College at National Louis University, where she majored in Culinary Arts. Just like she enjoyed her time at North-Grand High School, she really enjoyed her time at Kendall.

-In her undergraduate years, however, she had been around the block with many of her gentlemen peers and it really took a toll on her body. Fortunately enough, it didn’t take a BAD toll on her body, as she knew to be careful…though she did have some pregnancy scares.

-In 2010, Amanda entered Kendall’s Annual Pastry Bake-Off to challenge herself. She ended up winning first runner-up, much to her (slight) delight and dismay. Though she felt a certain way about how the judges, especially the French judges, judged her, her loved ones in attendance assured her that she did an amazing job.

-Fresh out of Kendall, Amanda attended Savanah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for her Master of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design from 2010 to 2012, though her mother gave her the option not to, due to culinary passions. She quickly found that majoring in Fashion Design was more difficult than she thought it’d be.

-With her skillset highly improved, she caught the attentions of Georgia Armani, Vera Wang, and Michael Kors during a fashion exhibit, via her designs, in 2011.

-In 2012, Amanda participated in the Annual SCAD Fashion Show and her designs were so epic that they caught the eyes of everyone in the room. Even her instructors who once questioned her abilities during her first year regretted doing so.

-Immediately after college, Amanda accepted the offer to work a paid internship under Vera Wang, which lasted five years. However, she quit in her fifth year, due to not being 100% happy and passionate about what she was doing. On the bright side, she was rest assured that her position would always be opened if she ever wanted to come back.

-After having difficulty obtaining a job in the culinary field, Amanda finally obtained a position as a barista at a bar named “Club Imagination,” thanks to its owner, Roscoe Johnson. Needless to say, the job was a “hard-knock life.” Unfortunately in addition, she would go home with a few of the customers for “nightly” activities…but, it would never end well.

-In late May of 2019, Amanda finally landed an interview for a sous chef position. However, she was horribly turned down. Little did she know, her day (and night) would get even more horrible, thanks to a very inconsiderate customer (or tyrant) that she went home with once upon a time. After getting her butt smacked one too many times, she threw his Vodka in his face and stormed out of the bar. On her aggressive way home, she passed “Fantasy’s Place,” which was still ran by Philip. There, she met Kelvin Ray Allen, who was quite the beauty. Their engagement in small talk and drinking led to dancing…and a one-night stand. Little did she know, she’d be left in her bed the morning after.

-A week after the incident at “Club Imagination,” Amanda returned to work and quit on the spot. On that same day, Philip offered her a barista position at “Fantasy’s Place.”

-In mid-June, Amanda realized that she was pregnant, which would proceed to sour her relationship with her mother because her child was out of wedlock.

-In January 2020, while closing for the night at “Fantasy’s Place,” she crossed paths with Kelvin again, as he came into the bar. It is during their encounter that he discovers that she is pregnant with their child and vows to be the best father possible.

-On February 14th, 2020, she and Kelvin’s daughter is born and named Chloe Areida Bailey.

-In 2025, though Amanda successfully ran “Fantasy’s Place,” Philip ends up laying her off, simply because revenue is declining, due to the changing times. On top of that, she ends up not obtaining the sous chef position she was so close to getting. On that same night, she gets hired by Kelvin to work as a sous chef in his restaurant, “Mangiare a la Mode,” after witnessing her cooking abilities and tasting her food.

-In 2026, Amanda and Kelvin have married. It is in that same year that she becomes the executive chef of “Mangiare a la Mode.”
