What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: The lowest depth of misery is the moment where you are between offing yoruself or striving to live and fight longer.
Where would you like to live?: I'm fortune enough to be living in one city I love, but I want to go to Oxford or Spain.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: A steady relationship with a lovely girl, the pleasures of being able to write all the time, and having the ability to go out whenever I want. I also want a hugeass library, a ton of vinyl, and a big closet with clothes
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: I am most indulgent in lust, self loathing, self defeatism, and insecurity.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: Suttree and Jake Barnes
Who are your favorite characters in history?: Richard Nixon, Sitting Bull, and Kierkegaard
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: My mother, and the lovely Caitlin, who I've known for two years and still have a great amount of compassion for, even though we have never been able to be in a relationship together. Maybe someday. Some people are always ghosts.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: There is no more aching figure than Caddie Compson or Lady Ashley.
Your favorite painter?: I love Goya and Bosch.
Your favorite musician?: Either Ryan Adams, Nick Cave, Patterson Hood or Ghostface Killah
The quality you most admire in a man?: I admire wit, morality, honesty, and style.
The quality you most admire in a woman?: Humor, comfort, warmth, and honesty. Given I am a human with great a many flaw, I need someone to call me out for my bullshit sometimes.
Your favorite virtue?: Charity and honesty
Your favorite occupation?: Reading, writing, listening to music. Being a knockabout.
Who would you have liked to be?: Charles Barkley. No doubt. Or David Milch.
Your most marked characteristic?: My glasses, hopefully my wit. My accent also, which I love. I wish I was from Georgia or North Alabama though; simply the richest accent on earth.
What do you most value in your friends?: Intelligence, understanding, humor, and a taste for Milwaukee's Best.
What is your principle defect?: Fear
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?: Dying alone with everybody hating me

How would you like to die?: I don't. I nearly did once, and I didn't enjoy it.
