What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: To suffer such a blow that you become unrecognizeable to yourself.
Where would you like to live?: One which is less prudish and more tolerant than the United States.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: Finding balance and living harmoniously in your realm of existence.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: Those which are inately "me" and which do not cause harm.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: "Augustus McCrae" (Lonesome Dove).
Who are your favorite characters in history?: John Steinbeck, Martin Luther, and Bettie Page.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: My mother, my grandmother, and my daughter.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: "Miss Celie" (The Color Purple).
Your favorite painter?: I love are too much to choose.
Your favorite musician?: I love music too much to choose.
The quality you most admire in a man?: Fortitude of character, intellect, sensibility, genuineness, and confidence.
The quality you most admire in a woman?: Fearlessness, depth of character, independence, sense of self, and intellect.
Your favorite virtue?: Humility AND the lack thereof when a situation warrants this.
Your favorite occupation?: Writing, reading, and perceiving beauty and truth in all forms of art.
Who would you have liked to be?: I am in the process of being.
Your most marked characteristic?: Dogged determination to keep pushing for betterment in all aspects of life - always.
What do you most value in your friends?: Truth and acceptance of my truths.
What is your principle defect?: Intolerance for stupidity.
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?: To be born with the capacity for great intellect and to never actualize this aspect of yourself.
What would you like to be?: Balanced.
What is your favorite color?: Green in all its shades and variations. Particularly when it is unexpected, like when water and the sky are green instead of blue.
What is your favorite flower?: Lilies are both strong and delicate. I also believe they are among the most sensual of flowers.
What is your favorite bird?: Hummingbirds. What marvelous little creatures.
Who are your favorite prose writers?: Steinbeck, Alice Walker, Tom Robbins, Larry McMurtry, David Sedaris, etc...
Who are your favorite poets?: Billy Collins, Sandra Cisneros, E.A. Poe, Chaucer, and Maya Angelou.
What are your favorite names?: Those which are unique, androgynous, and perfectly fit the people who own them.
What is it you most dislike?: Entitlement, bravado, false bravado, and disingenuousness of character.
What historical figures do you most despise?: Those who believed that they were qualified and justified to say what human behavior should be, what people should believe, or whether or not they should exist.
What event in military history do you most admire?: I'm not fond of history in general, but military history is particularly subject to being inflated and overrated.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: A stronger will and indelible influence.
How would you like to die?: Old, and peacefully unaware.
What is your present state of mind?: Contemplative.
