What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
I don't want to ever disappoint my parents or experience their wrath.
Where would you like to live?
Right now, I'm perfectly content living with my parents and, I can't believe I'm saying this, my little brother, Dorman. Perhaps later on, I'd love to live where there are different types of food everywhere.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?
My idea of earthly happiness is cooking whenever I get the chance to and never having to feel afraid or ashamed to do it. I'd also just want my parents to be proud of me...proud of me for being me.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?
I have a hard time using my voice to speak up for myself, especially out of fear. In other words, I feel like I'm just a little too quiet.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
As funny as this sounds, I'm very fond of Remy and Anton Ego of Disney's "Ratatouille." Remy loved to cook and he didn't let the fact that he was a rat stop him. Anton Ego, on the other hand, was ruthless as a food critic...and I LOVED it.
Who are your favorite characters in history?
Martin Luther King Jr. and Franklin D. Roosevelt are my favorites because they were all about equality and the people. They didn't see black or white or any other color.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?
I love every chef, no matter the category of food, dead or alive, especially Giada De Laurentiis. But, it's almost safe to say that I've fallen in love with the late Julia Childs. Her concept of food is just AMAZING.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?
I adore Katniss Evergreen, specifically because of her bravery and, bluntly put, her duty to her sister. She really meant business. I also love how much of a bookworm Hermione Granger was. She definitely was not afraid to put anyone in their place.
Your favorite painter?
Vincent van Gogh, specifically because of his Starry Night painting. Something about that painting just mesmerizes me to no end.
Your favorite musician?
I have many favorite musicians, especially those resembling yesterday and the oldies. But, the musicians I love the most are the band Earth Wind and Fire, Natalie Cole, and Frank Sinatra.
The quality you most admire in a man?
I think there needs to be a balance between masculinity and gentleness. In other words, I can respect a man that's got a gentle quality about him.
The quality you most admire in a woman?
I don't know much about love, but I can appreciate a woman, who's headstrong, intelligent, a go-getter, and her naturality.
Your favorite virtue?
Courage...then again, I'm preaching to myself because I didn't tap into my courage until later on in life. And most definitely patience. Everyone does not "get it" at the same time.
Your favorite occupation?
Cooking, hands down. Just don't let my parents hear that...they'd unfortunately be livid.
Who would you have liked to be?
If my parents weren't raising me to be some kind of lawyer, I'd like to have been a chef. Then again, maybe I already am one.
Your most marked characteristic?
Empathy or putting other people before myself.
What do you most value in your friends?
I admire their patience, consistency, and their loyalty.
What is your principle defect?
The three that annoy me the most: impulsivity/not thinking before I act or speak; empathy/thinking about other people way too much instead of thinking about what I want; ignorance/not being fully aware like should be or want to be.
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?
Never being back in my parents' good graces because I decided to go after my dreams and passions, instead of going after theirs.
What would you like to be?
I'd like to continue being a chef. Nothing else, ever.
What is your favorite color?
Can't I just like all colors? They all consist of their little worlds.
What is your favorite flower?
I don't have a favorite. They all have a definitions and their own worlds.
What is your favorite bird?
There is something so sweet about a hummingbird.
Who are your favorite prose writers?
I don't have a favorite prose writer. If anything, I'm mostly just obsessed with food and the chefs and culinary masters behind them.
Who are your favorite poets?
I don't have a favorite poet.
Who are your heroes in real life?
Between you and me, Dorman, my little brother, is my hero. He was pretty much the wake-up call I needed to pursue my own dreams and to stop trying to make everyone else happy.
Who are your favorite heroines of history?
I know she's a real person, but Julia Childs is my favorite heroine. I just love her dedication and her admiration for food. She's part of the reason I'm (overly) obsessed with food.
What are your favorite names?
I don't know why, but I always found something incredibly beautiful about the name Chloe. Perhaps if I ever have a daughter, I'm going to name her that name, with permission from my partner or wife, of course.
What is it you most dislike?
Honestly, I dislike the fact that I'm ignorant about love, especially the romantic kind of love. That would explain why I was never in a relationship.
What historical figures do you most despise?
Right now, I despise racist bigots like Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler. While I'm at it, can I just mention the KKK?
What event in military history do you most admire?
I don't think I have a particular military event that I most admire. I'm overall grateful for those who have put their lives out on the line for my country.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?
I find the piano instrument to be very endearing. It'd be great if I knew how to play it.
How would you like to die?
Naturally...and at the right time. In other words, I'd rather not die of a bullet being put in me or from a crash or an injury.
What is your present state of mind?
Right now, I'm thinking about food and...perhaps the next concoction I'm thinking of whipping up. While I'm at it, I'm thinking about my favorite channel, The Food Network.
What is your motto?
Really, don't worry about the calories. Just eat the concoction and enjoy it to the fullest. After all, you only live once.
