What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: To lack control over one's circumstances.
Where would you like to live?: I can be relatively happy in any city with a decent public library system, but I will always love Canada.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: Good music, good books, and good conversations.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: Pride.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: Ivan Karmazov, Mr. George Knightley, Zooey Glass.
Who are your favorite characters in history?: Henry David Thoreau, Hester Stanhope, St. Joan of Arc.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: I admire very few women in real life.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: Artemis.
Your favorite painter?: I don't know enough about art to answer this.
Your favorite musician?: I don't have a favourite, but I love Brahms' Piano Concerto in D minor more than any other piece of music right now.
The quality you most admire in a man?: Self-mastery.
The quality you most admire in a woman?: A masculine character.
Your favorite virtue?: Contrariness.
Your favorite occupation?: Arguing and debating with people more intelligent than me.
Who would you have liked to be?: I would have loved to be Hester Stanhope, although I am very satisfied with my present circumstances.
Your most marked characteristic?: Procrastination and distaste for imposed unnecessaries.
What do you most value in your friends?: Abilities, intelligences, or characteristics that I can learn from.
What is your principle defect?: Laziness and self-absorption.
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?: To be unable to appreciate literature.
What would you like to be?: I agree with Proust. I would like to be a better version of myself.

What are your favorite names?: Strong, simple ones.
What is it you most dislike?: Bureaucracy and red tape.
What historical figures do you most despise?: Joseph Smith and other confidence men. Many former popes. Oliver Cromwell.
What event in military history do you most admire?: Joshua stopping the sun in the sky.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: A photographic memory and unbreakable focus.
How would you like to die?: At a very old age.
What is your present state of mind?: Worry that I sound too pretentious in this quiz.
