What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: The past week plus the month of Decemeber, any December, in any year, 2003 onwards, specifically the years of 2003 and 2008.
Where would you like to live?: I would never leave England permanently. My heart is here.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: To be allowed to be myself. To have time to read all the books I want to read. Being selfish. Warm weather. Being loved.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: I am too highly-strung.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: Jude.
Who are your favorite characters in history?: I haven't read enough about the periods of history that I am interested in to know yet.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: Sarah.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: Evelina.
Your favorite painter?: Caravaggio or Raphael. I like the oldies.
Your favorite musician?: Gene Pitney. Again with the oldies.
The quality you most admire in a man?: The ability to be a gentleman.
The quality you most admire in a woman?: A quick wit.
Your favorite virtue?: Honesty.
Your favorite occupation?: Reading, daydreaming, shopping.
Who would you have liked to be?: I love being me.
Your most marked characteristic?: A bad temper.
What do you most value in your friends?: A good sense of humour.
What is your principle defect?: I'd like to say it is genetic (the old bad temper again).
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?: Not being in love.
What would you like to be?: Not what I am going to be, I fear.

What is your favorite bird?: I don't like any. Is an albatross a bird. If so, that.

Who are your favorite heroines of history?: I am not sure. Clara Barton, Julia Ward Howe and Alice Stone Blackwell.

What event in military history do you most admire?: I do not know enough about military history to answer.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: The ability to bite my tongue.
