What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: Nothing at all, misery is a state of mind.
Where would you like to live?: Paris in the wintertime, always
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: Always having a book to read, and a place to put them
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: My own
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: The authentic, the ones who reflect a moment in time
Who are your favorite characters in history?: Bertrand Russell, George Orwell
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: Any woman that knows who she is, what she wants and where she is going
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: The women who don't fit, who challenge the idea of "woman"
Your favorite painter?: Picasso
Your favorite musician?: Eddie Vedder
The quality you most admire in a man?: Confidence
The quality you most admire in a woman?: Confidence
Your favorite virtue?: Who decides what is virtuous? But to answer, any that help push humanity to do what is good for the whole
Your favorite occupation?: Reading, sketching
Who would you have liked to be?: I can only be myself
Your most marked characteristic?: A desire to be valued
What do you most value in your friends?: The truth
What is your principle defect?: Impatience, and a slight fear that I'm an accident of the universe that was never meant to be
What to your mind would be the greatest of misfortunes?: To have never seen Paris in the wintertime
What would you like to be?: Again, I can only be myself

Who are your heroes in real life?: Mr. Stockwell (an old teacher)

What are your favorite names?: Have to stick with mine.
What is it you most dislike?: Intolerance
What historical figures do you most despise?: I despise the circumstances that breed tyrants
What event in military history do you most admire?: None, I don't believe any conflict is ever unavoidable.
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: Self-awareness
How would you like to die?: As someone who always did the right thing, and knew what it was
What is your present state of mind?: Again, I'll defer to Proust
What is your motto?: A smell of petroleum prevails throughout.
