What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: when one has lost all semblence of hope for finding meaning in or greater purpose of this world
Where would you like to live?: small-town America during the 1970s; or, Ireland
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: being cognizant of one's blessings *while one possesses them*
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: perfectionism and overanalysis that renders one inable to act; understanding that a thing cannot be other than it is, but still wishing it was different anyway
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: Prospero; Atticus Finch; Guy Montag; Samwise Gamgee
Who are your favorite characters in history?: John Locke; James Cook; John Adams; Soren Kierkegaard; C.S. Lewis

Who are your favorite heroines of history?: Elizabeth I; Abigail Adams; the women of the American frontier

What is it you most dislike?: my own limitations
What historical figures do you most despise?: Cromwell; Stalin; Kim Jong Il
What event in military history do you most admire?: I have little interest in the particularities of military battles
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: lack of concern for how others perceive me; the ability to play the piano
How would you like to die?: with a clear conscience
What is your present state of mind?: vaguely melancholic
What is your motto?: There is much I still lack, but what I do possess is enough for the present.
