What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?: To not use the gifts the universe gives.
Where would you like to live?: Next to a lake, in the country, but near a bookstore, a good library, and a Dunkin Donuts
What is your idea of earthly happiness?: To have all my family close by, safe and happy, but to have a room of my own and quiet time.
To what faults do you feel most indulgent?: stubborness
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?: I don't know if I believe in heroes. Toby Tyler, Huck, Achilles, the father in Father's Story
Who are your favorite characters in history?: John Paul Jones, Joan of Arc, Johnny Appleseed, John Muir--I like people whose names have a jay.
Who are your favorite heroines in real life?: Thank you Proust.--My mother.
Who are your favorite heroines of fiction?: I don't know if I believe in heroines. Mrs Dalloway, Jo March, Jane Eyre, Sara Crewe

What event in military history do you most admire?: It is hard to admire slaughter: but D-Day
What natural gift would you most like to possess?: the ability to make others feel welcomed and valued.
How would you like to die?: Loved and content that I have done well with this life.
